Q: How do I post a change to last prior year after the year has been closed in the DOS version of CMS A: Great care should be exercised in doing this as this is an extremely abnormal procedure.
C: (where C: is the drive on computer that contains your data) cd\cms (where cms is the directory on computer that contains your data)
copy sysprofd.xxx c:\ (where xxx is your company code to save a copy of the file) copy gl*.xxx c:\ cms.exe utility 1 (change data file) sysprofd.xxx (where xxx is your company code to save a copy of the file) 4 (Patch file) 3 (Select record 3) (use arrow key to Addr: 35 which is in the 3rd row, 6th position)
change the 01 to 00 (which resets CMS to allow changes in the fiscal calendar) <F6><F6> and <escape><escape><escape> back to DOS
Now enter CMS normally, make change the beginning date of fiscal period one to a date in the last fiscal year and save. Next make a journal entry to record the entry. If there is a net P&L change, an additional entry to Retained Earnings will need to be made (since this makes an unbalanced entry, you will need to use the procedure to post an unbalanced journal entry). After posting, use the above procedure to change the beginning procedure back to what it was before.
(Next, run GLMASFIX to recalculate the period totals) C: (where C: is the drive on computer that contains your data) cd\cms (where cms is the directory on computer that contains your data) cms.exe GLMASFIX xxx (where xxx is your company code to save a copy of the file) <F6> to start processing
