Optimal Settings in Windows for CMS
These are a few settings that improve the performance of
Reporting to the MAX including Point of Sale and Non-profit Versions on a Windows NT/2000, XP, or 2003
Operating systems.
Run in Separate Memory Space
Allows the application allocation of it's own memory
space
- Right Click your CMS desktop icon
- Left Click Properties
NT/2000 Systems
- Click the check box Run in separate memory space
XP and 2003 Systems
- Click the Advanced button
- Click the checkbox Run in seperate memory space
File Handle configuration
This setting increases the maximum number of files that
can be opened at one time. CMS, while posting can open in
excess of 200 files at one point in time. This setting will
allow faster response times when posting because more files
will be allowed to open during posting.
- Click Start > Run
- Type in config.nt > Click OK
- Open the program with Notepad
- Once the file is open scroll to the bottom the the
document and find the statement, files=x
(where x is any number)
- Change x to 250
- Save the changes
- Click File and Exit
Short Date Format
Reporting to the MAX including Point of Sale and Non-profit Versions uses the date format MM/DD/YYYY.
In some instances, if this setting is not correct in Windows
CMS will give an error
- Click Start > Settings > Control Panel
- Click on Regional and Language Options
- Click on the Customize button
- Click on the Date Tab
- You should see a setting Short Date Format
- Drop down that list menu and select MM/DD/YYYY
- Click Apply and Ok out of all of the windows.
