How do I share my CMShip Shipping information with FedEx?
Answer:
Sharing transaction information with FedEx
After you enter your order in Reporting to the MAX, shipping your
merchandise is quick and easy. By only typing the address
information once (in Reporting to the MAX), there is less potential
for error. Your shipping clerk need only type the invoice number
into FedEx, and the customer and address information will appear
automatically!. These instructions assume you are already in the
Ship window of the FedEx application.
To enter a Reporting to the MAX invoice into FedEx for shipping:
- In the Ship window, select the
Shipment Details tab.
- Type the Reporting to the MAX invoice number in the
Recipient ID field in the upper left corner of the
FedEx window. When you enter the Reporting to the MAX invoice
number, the shipping address information for the order will
appear automatically. If you changed the Ship To address for
this particular order in Reporting to the MAX, the address you
used in Reporting to the MAX will be used in FedEx as well. The
Reporting to the MAX Invoice Number for this order also appears
in the FedEx Customer Reference field, and
prints as the Reference in the upper left corner of the
shipping label.
- Enter the package information and print the shipping
label(s) just as you would with any FedEx shipment (see the
FedEx documentation for information on this).
- Note: If you prefer to enter your
Reporting to the MAX orders into FedEx in groups rather than one
at a time, you can use the Reporting to the MAX Edit Report as
your reference. Bring the Edit Report to the FedEx machine,
and it will provide all the information you need to enter
the Reporting to the MAX orders.
Completing the Transaction
After you have entered the sale and shipped the merchandise, you
can retrieve FedEx tracking information about the shipment in
Reporting to the MAX (depending on the settings in Order Entry Module
Preferences). Shipping Your Products
Applying the shipping Information to the Invoice
After shipping the package in FedEx, Reporting to the MAX updates the
invoice to include the tracking information and saves it to the
Reporting to the MAX sales and customer files.
To update an invoice so the FedEx tracking information
appears on the invoice:
- In Reporting to the MAX, open the Order Entry module. Select
Orders > Update From FedEx. If you are using batch
transaction processing, orders in all batches will be
updated with their corresponding shipping information once
these orders have been entered in FedEx. When you update the
invoice(s) with FedEx information, this process will also
update the customers’ Accounts Receivable records with the
shipping and tracking information.
