Report Writer for Windows Default File Settings for the Reporting to the MAX

Before you can use Report Writer for Windows from within Reporting to the MAX including Point of Sale and Non-profit Versions, you must define the working directories where it looks for data and library files. Follow the instructions below. NOTE: When the Report Writer opens a report from within the accounting or POS application, it looks for the DMO company data files. When printing your reports it uses the appropriate data files for the company you are working within.

1. Launch the Report Writer for Windows application (RRW.EXE) directly (not from within the CMS application). This can be done by going to START - PROGRAMS - Reporting to the MAX including Point of Sale and Non-profit Versions - CMS REPORT WRITER

2. Select File Settings from the Options menu. The Default File Settings window will appear.

3. In the Directories section, enter the path to the directory where Report Writer can find the DMO data files. The DMO files are automatically installed with the software. If you have not deleted or moved the DMO files they are in a sub-folder named DMODATA within the folder where the CMS application was installed. (Example: C:\CMSWIN\DMODATA). NOTE: If you have deleted the DMO data files, you will need to copy them back on from the installation CD. They are stored on the CD in a zip file in the BackData folder. Copy the zip file to a folder on your hard drive and unzip the file. Specify the path to this folder as the path to your data files.

4. In the Files section, enter the path to the directory where you installed Report Writer for Windows (example: C:\CMSWIN).

5. In the Extensions section, select MDX from the Index File Drop-down list. Leave the Text File and Image File boxes in this section blank.
