Did you know you can run multiple Promotions at one time? This can be a great way to mark down everything (or many things) for a limited time, even if you'll be discounting different groups of items in different ways.

Here's the scenario:

Next week, you want to set up a special promotion like this: 1. All clothing
items will be 40% off;
2. Another group of items may be 25% off; 3. A third group may be $10 off;
4. You have another group of items you want to move out, so
you want them all to be $0.99 each.

Simply set up 4 different Promotional Pricing codes under
Inventory/Options/Promotional Pricing. All will have the same Start and End
date (and time, if you will only be running this promotion from or to a
certain time of day), and so they will overlap.

For the first one, you would specify that this promotion will be a
percentage off, and include the items that will be 40% off;

The second promotion could be specified also as a percentage, for 25%, for
the second group of items;

The third group would be for a dollar amount off, and would include the
items that will be $10 off;

The final group would be designated as 'Fixed Price' for $0.99 each.

Also, by checking the checkbox next to 'Import Description to Comment
Line?', whatever comment you enter in the description field of the promotion
will print on the invoice or sales receipt any time an item in that
promotion is sold. An example of how to use this might be:

"Thanks for coming to our Summer Extravaganza!"
