Probable Solutions:

Bar code scanners are simply and alternate input device to the keyboard.

In most situations, you don't need any additional software.

You usually only need software to print barcodes.

-----------------------------

The Inventory module has the ability to alias part numbers to your stock numbers.
If you don't use the bar code number as you stock ID, open the INV module, select Options/Setup Alias.
Select the stock number that needs a bar code number and enter it in the Associated Alias list.
If you have a scanner you can just scan the bar code to enter the
data into the field.
