Point of Sale
Problem
The receipt tape prints out "letter size" (11 inches long), even when only
one or two items have been sold.
Cause
Windows 2000 uses a different method for selecting the minimum form length
used for print jobs than was previously used in Windows 98. Instead of the form
length being ignored by setting the printer to Continuous Feed With no Break, it
is necessary to create a custom form for Windows 2000 or XP to use with the
Receipt Printer. If a custom form is not created and selected on the print
driver, the receipt will always print out a minimum of 11 inch of paper.
Resolution
A custom form will need to be created and assigned to the printer.
To Create the Custom Form for Receipt Tape:
1. Open the Printers folder by selecting Start, Settings, Printers and
Faxes.
2. Select File, Server Properties from the top menu of the window. The Print
Server Properties form should appear.
3. On the Forms tab, put a check in the box next to Create a new Form.
4. In the Form Name field, type in Receipt Tape.
5. In the Form description section, enter 3.00in for the Width and 5.00in
for the Height.
6. Click OK at the bottom of the form to create the custom form.

properties
2 .Click on the general tab

4. Click the advanced button
5. Next to paper size, choose the name of the form we set up in step 2
6. Click ok, click ok. You should be back to the printer properties
7. Click on the advanced tab
8. Click on the printing defaults button
9. Click the advanced button
10. Next to paper size, choose the name of the form we set up in step 2

More Information
If the Point of Sale Receipt Tape format in Reporting to the MAX Point of Sale has
been modified to eliminate many of the default lines that print on the receipt,
the receipt may still print up to 1 inch too long. If this occurs, try using
these instructions with a form Height of 4.50 inches instead of 5.00in.
