Epson Printers Install Their Own Printer Driver
Question:
Many Epson receipt printers will "auto detect" the first time the
machine is booted after the unit is connected, which will cause the
printer not to print correctly with CMS POS software.
Answer:
The printer is usually connected to the computer with a parallel
cable, and when the system was rebooted or restarted, the operating
system loaded the Epson driver instead of the Generic Text Only
printer driver.
Resolution
1. If the computer auto detects the printer, and asks what driver
to use make sure to select the generic text only printer driver.
2. If you let it install the Epson driver go into your printers and
change the generic text only printer driver.
Change the printer driver through going to Start - Settings - and
Printers. Then select add printer - use the wizard to set up the
generic text only print driver.
More Information
Serial printers usually only do this when the Point of Sale
computer uses the Windows 2000 or XP operating systems.
