Tips From Larry
for the Reporting to the MAX...

With January close upon us, it is time to start preparing to print W2 forms. I highly
recommend using the plain paper laser forms available from Reporting to the MAX Forms for all
copies except copy A (the Fed's copy).
The appearance of the W2 form printed on the plain paper form is superior to any other
form. All entries align neatly within the boxes and even if the paper alignment is
slightly off or crooked, the forms still look good. You can print your practice forms on
regular paper instead of burning up expensive preprinted forms. You no longer risk running
out of forms because you wasted too many
forms trying to get them lined up right.
The plain paper form is not year-specific, so you can order plenty and use the left over
forms next year. I also recommend sending your Copy A forms in on magnetic media or via
the Social Security Administration's online wage reporting service.
Beginning this year, you can also transmit your Copy A forms via the Internet. The
instructions and registration information for the new Internet service can be found at http://www.ssa.gov/employer. This is truly
the easiest and fastest way to complete your W2 requirements. Plus, if you file your Copy
A forms electronically you have until the last day of March to get them in, whereas paper
forms must be sent by the last day of February.
