Tech Tips Fund V4.5  for the Reporting to the MAX

Fund Accounting, Version 4.5, like our Accounting for Windows Package, offers advanced reporting for budgets and year to date information. This comes as such an exciting feature to fund users. By designating each general ledger account into a certain group (that can be designed by the user), reports are created that are specific to the needs of an organization. Now, along with the Report Writer capabilities, all Reporting to the MAX including Point of Sale and Non-profit Versions users will have added flexibility for reporting through this new advanced reporting feature.  Fund users will see this as a great step for Reporting to the MAX including Point of Sale and Non-profit Versions. Organizations searching for software that does more that just help to track expenses and grant revenue will be thrilled to see the new advanced reporting features. Most non-profit organizations are run under a Board of Directors and that Board needs to be able to look at the organization’s financial position from every direction…these reports will allow for this. The greatest piece of this new feature is that it is actually easy to use!!!!
The way it works is this: The users will be able to sort account numbers into groups. These groups can then be given a descriptive name that is meaningful to that Organization. This is something fund users ask about quite often! These groups can then be given subgroups under them and all groups can then be placed into a report format that is appealing to the user. This is another issue frequently brought up by fund users; they want to see a report in a specific format. These grouping features are easily found in the "Options" of the General Ledger. They are also very straight-forward in that the chart of accounts is on the screen and the user will pick and choose which account numbers he or she wants in certain groups, with just the click of a mouse. The groups will then be selected under one or more "Report Layouts." Once this is completed, the user will simply go to the "Reports" option of the General Ledger, and choose, "Advanced Reports." At this point, they will have the Layouts they designed to select from and will be able to sort by date, show comparative statements on, and so on and so on. Although this is available in our basic accounting package, this is an outstanding feature to offer to Fund users who rely so heavily on reporting financial matters.
Please take note: This feature is not to be confused with "Report Generator" in our Dos Packages. Dos users who will be converting to our Windows will not be able to convert the reports they used in "Report Generator" into windows. There is not a windows version of "Report Generator". As a Fund Specialist, this is one of those "Frequently Asked Questions;" specifically from our fund users.
Along with this new reporting feature our fund package is still offering the power it started with through its capability to keep track of separate funds and their financial matters inside and outside the General Ledger. It will offer a new backup feature that will work similar to the feature so many grew to love in the Dos Package of Fund Accounting Version 14.0a. As always it will still provide room to budget for 3 full years...again, very important to those who rely solely on monies from outside the organization to function. The three years provides so much room to focus on the future and be prepared for it
