Question:
How do I install Client to a new workstation?
Answer:
Installing Client on a networked workstation.
Map the drive:
Go into My Computer > Tools > Map Network Drive
Select the letter drive that is common in the System
Settings Data Path (i.e. M:\CMSWIN where the physical drive
on the server is C:\COUGAR\CMSWIN)
Check the Short Date Format:
Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel > Regional
Language Options > Customize button > Date Tab > Ensure the
Short Date Format reads MM/DD/YYYY.
Check the File Handles:
Click on Start > Run > Type in CONFIG.NT > Open the file
with NOTEPAD > and Scroll to the bottom and find where a
statement reads FILES=40. Edit the statement to read
FILES=250.
Run Client:
Browse to the Directory on the Server through the mapped
drive created above. Open up the directory that CMS is
installed and Browse to a file called CLIENT.EXE. Double
click to begin the Client install and follow the
installation wizard. Install the client to the local hard
drive.
Create the Icon:
Open up mapped drive and browse to the install directory
on the server. Find the file called CMSMAIN.EXE. Right Click
on it > Send To > Desktop (Create Shortcut). Once the Icon
is on the Desktop, Right Click on it > Properties > Advanced
Button > Check Box (Run in separate memory space). Once that
is complete you should be able to access CMS from your
desktop icon.
