Question:

How do you stop a Cougar Mtn from requiring a Win-to-Win conversion every time I enter the software?

What's Probably Occurred:

There are two files in the company code's data directory VERxxx that keep track of what version each file is.   When the company is entered, the software scans the files in the company's data directory and makes sure that it exists in this file and that all the files that are there are the same version as the software.   If there are files marked as being a different version, the software executes a routine called Win-to-Win conversion to get all files on the same version.

What Needs to Happen:

The VERxxx.dbf needs to have all files listed with the info in the VERNUM column is the version of the Cougar Mtn being run.

Probable Solutions:

1>  Delete to rename the 2 VER files in the company's data directory, enter the software and run another Win-to-Win, exit the software and go back in and see if another Win-to-Win is triggered.

2> Use the UTICMS.exe to open the VERxxx.dbf (where xxx is the company code) and review the VERNUM column for different versions.  This will indicate where the problem is.   Depending on the nature of the files (i.e.. orphan batch files or obsolete files) with the wrong version, you might relocate the files with the wrong version number to a subdirectory.  Then repeat step 1

3> Check the icons on all the PC's that Launch Cougar MTN that they are pointed tot he correct directory on the server (while doing this, verify that the program is running in a separate memory space)

4> Do a directory of ??main.exe and review the dates that program dates are close to each other.  Sometimes an inactive module EXE files can cause this problem.   If you find an out of date ??main.exe file, suggest you rename the file by changing the EXE extension to EX
