When running the client installation on version 8 an error occurs stating Could Not Initialize Installation

A full installation from CD was done on the workstation previously.

Question:
When running the client installation on version 8 an error occurs stating Could Not Initialize Installation

Answer:
A full installation from CD was done on the workstation previously.

Resolution
Uninstall the program, delete the installation folder, and then install the client software on the workstation computer.

Uninstall the previous installation:
1. From the Windows Start menu, choose Programs\Reporting to the MAX including Point of Sale and Non-profit Versions.
2. Choose Uninstall Reporting to the MAX.
3. When the Select Uninstall Window appears, choose Automatic and click Next.
4. When prompted "Do you want to restore the files that were backed up during the install process?" choose No and click Next.
5. Click Finish to perform the uninstall process.

Delete the installation folder:
1. When the installation is complete, double click on My Computer.
2. Double click on the C: drive to open it.
3. Right click on the CMSWIN* folder and choose delete.
4. Click on the Yes button to confirm the deletion.

Install the client software:
1. Browse to the location where CMS is installed on the network drive.
2. Find the application file named client.exe.
3. Double click on client.exe to restart the client installation on the workstation.
