Microsoft® .Net Framework Installation

NOTE: After installing version 8.0B, if you get the error "cmsmain.exe - Unable To Locate DLL" or "cmsfund.exe - Unable To Locate DLL" when you attempt to open Cougar MTN Software Software, you will need to install the Microsoft® .Net Framework before the software will open.

Introduced in version 8, Cougar MTN Software Software now requires the installation of the Microsoft® .Net Framework. If you do not already have .Net installed on your computer, you will be prompted to install it. If, for any reason, the option to install is not selected, you can install the .Net Framework from the DotNet subfolder in the folder where Cougar MTN Software Software is installed (C:\CMSWIN is the default folder).

To install or reinstall Microsoft® .Net Framework after Cougar MTN Software Software has been installed, follow these steps:

1. On the computer you installed Cougar MTN Software Software, find the folder where the software was installed (C:\CMSWIN is the default folder).

2. Find and open the DotNet subfolder. You will need to select and install both

dotnetfx.exe

and

mdac_type.exe

3. Double-click the dotnetfx.exe to install the .Net Framework. Follow the on-screen instructions.

4. Double-click the mdac_type.exe to install the Microsoft® Data Access Components (MDAC). Follow the on-screen instructions.

Network Installation CLIENT.EXE

After installing the 8.0B update for a network installation, you must run the CLIENT.EXE program on each workstation. This is due to the updating of the .DLLs in the system. If CLIENT.EXE is not run, the user will see a message indicating that CLIENT.EXE must be run 1st
, and the application will terminate. The message reads "ShrNet32.DLL Version Mismatch. Please run <path>\CLIENT.EXE to update ShrNet32.DLL. Exiting application."

P.O.S.

Receipts Will Append Only if Printed from Reports Menu

Since the release of Version 7.0, reports that were printed to a file would append instead of overwriting an existing file. It is important to note that for POS Receipts, this is only true if the invoices are printed from the Reports menu. If the receipt is printed to a file by selecting the Done button in the POS Register window, or by selecting Option > Print Sale in the POS Register window, the new receipt will overwrite the existing one. In order to print the receipt to a file and have it append any existing receipts, you must post the sale and then select Reports > Reprint Receipts from P.O.S..

Order Entry

Set Up Sales Entry Screen "Edit Last Cost" Prompt

If you have chosen to prompt for last cost for Non-Inventory Control and Management, Special Order, and/or Job Cost-Construction & Manufactures line items in Order Entry, the correction of a prior error may change your setting for this option. It is recommended that you check the setting to verify that it is what you intended.

To check your setting for the "Edit Last Cost" Line Item Prompt, follow these steps:

1. Select Options > Set Up Sales Entry Screen in Order Entry.

2. Choose the Sales Entry Screen Code you will be editing, and select the Edit button.

3. Select the Line Items tab.

4. In the Line Item Prompts list box on the left side of the window, select the Edit Last Cost for... prompt.

5. In the Allow Input for list box on the correct side of the window, verify that the option chosen is the option you want. If not, change it as necessary.

6. Save any changes, and close the window.

Invoices Will Append Only if Printed from Orders Menu

Since the release of Version 7.0, reports that were printed to a file would append instead of overwriting an existing file. It is important to note that for OE Invoices, this is only true if the invoices are printed from the Orders or Reports menu. If the invoice is printed to a file by selecting the Print/Save button in the OE Enter Orders window, the new invoice will overwrite the existing one. In order to print the invoice to a file and have it append any existing invoices, you have two options:

Select Orders > Print Invoices from the Order Entry menu.
Post the invoice, and then print it to the file by selecting Reports > Reprint Invoices from History.
