How this works:
We have spent a lot of time to stay
on top of this subject, most people dont use meta tags
right or at all and this is one of the most important
part of a web page! If you leave them out or If you dont
get it right the first time they can do more damage then
good!!!
If you want to learn more about how a search engine
works check out a report I did....
http://www.newnan.cc/search/boolean.html
Below is a break out of what each tag does.
|
All this information is
added to fields in there database for later use if
needed or searched for it is always good to go over
board when it comes to searce engines, you want to be
indexed right the first time :)
meta name="publisher" content= (Who publisher was)
meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content= (tells the
browser how to deal with whats on the page)
meta http-equiv="Content-Language" content=( if you have
made your page for more that one, Google will also know
how to translate)
meta name="GENERATOR" content= (This may already be
there like Frontpage, or what ever editor you used to
make the page)
meta http-equiv="Window-target" (This is just a clean
way of telling the browser what to do with the window)
meta name="Author" content= (Who You Are)
meta name="ROBOTS" content= (tells the robot what to do
when it gets there)
meta name="description" content= (This is the
description that shows up in the search engine make it a
good one)
meta name="classification"
content="GENERAL" (Tells the browser, Is it Kid Safe?)
meta name="keywords" content= ( You can list upto 50
words separated by comma space (, )
meta NAME="keyphrases" CONTENT="two and three words
each, separated by comma space, "
meta name="revisit-after" content= ( tells the search
engine stuff may change so come back please :)
meta name="title" content= (This may also show up when
the search shows results of a search)
<meta name="MSSmartTagsPreventParsing" content='TRUE">
(Stops links that steal hits from your site)
meta NAME="rating" CONTENT= ( Some people has set there
browsers so they dont get porn sites )
meta NAME="Distribution" content= ( Who or what it was
made for)
meta name="Identifier-URL"
content= ( Root of what is to be indexed )
And the last few have to be issued by
Companies........We do all that for you!
<meta name=aesop content=links>
