Description:

Microsoft FrontPage HTML Tools allow you to quickly access and modify Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) tags directly while you're editing a page in WYSIWYG view (the Normal tab in Page view). Using HTML Tools is like having X-ray vision for your Web pages.

Installation:

  1. Copy fphtml.dll from the \MicrosoftAdd-ins\HTML_Tools folder on the CD to your local drive.
  2. Start FrontPage.
  3. Select Tools | Add-ins | Add
  4. Browse to the location where you saved fphtml.dll, and select it.
  5. Click OK.
  6. Click OK.

Instructions for use:

  1. In FrontPage, open the Web page you want to edit.
  2. Move the insertion point to the area you want to edit.
  3. Notice that the HTML Tools toolbar displays the HTML tags affecting your current selection.
  4. Click the tag you want to edit on the HTML Tools toolbar.
  5. Notice that the elements inside that tag are selected in WYSIWYG view (the Normal tab in Page view).

Do any of the following:

  1. To wrap a new tag around the currently selected tag, click the Wrap Tag button and enter a beginning tag (<b>, <form>, etc).
  2. To edit the currently selected tag, click the Edit Tag button.
  3. To remove the currently selected tag, click the Remove Tag button.
  4. To insert additional HTML code on your Web page, move your insertion point to the location you want and click the Insert HTML button.

If you have multiple versions of FrontPage installed on your system, you should only install and run HTML Tools in one version.
